HIGHEST AP SCORES EVER

GCISD's Advanced Placement (AP) students are earning higher scores than ever before. A score of "4" or "5" earns students college credit (so the parents don't have to pay for that class in college).

Number of 4s in 2023:  1,077

Number of 5s in 2023: 734

Students are earning better scores because of the deliberately increased rigor of these classes.

DUAL LANGUAGE STUDENTS IMPROVING INCREDIBLY

The improved Dual language program shows significant proficiency increases in both math and reading for these English Second Language students. Now ALL students are getting the support they have needed!

EB is "Emergent Bilingual," formerly known as ESL (English Second Language) students.

This data shows that the program has a 22% increase the number of ESL students passing 3rd grade math and a 7% increase of ESL students showing mastery of the content.

In both 4th and 5th grade math, the ESL students improved in all three categories of approaching, meeting, and mastering their grade-level content.

Since the Dual Language program was improved, ESL students improved in English literacy as well.

In the one short year since the change, the percent of students passing the grade went from 6% to 71%.

This is a life-changing improvement for these students who were tracked from the Fall of 2022/23 to the Spring 2023/24.

2023:  4%+2%=6% passing

2024: 33%+38%=71% passing

FEWER DYSLEXIA DIAGNOSES

The new phonics-based reading curriculum has caused a 37% decrease in the number of dyslexia intervention letters to be sent home for first grade students.

Our students are better readers!

Shannon Braun gets results. GCISD needs her in Place 1 on our Board of Trustees to continue her record of excellence.
